The Foundation Course on CBCT

The Foundation Course on CBCT is designed to give clinicians and learners a clear, practical understanding of where cone beam computed tomography fits into contemporary dental practice.

The course begins by examining the limitations of conventional 2D imaging and introduces the principles of sectional imaging, with particular emphasis on CT and CBCT. It then addresses an essential part of responsible imaging practice — understanding the radiation burden associated with CBCT and recognising when its use is clinically justified.

Using relevant clinical examples, participants will learn to recognise situations in which CBCT can provide information that conventional imaging cannot, and to approach CBCT use more appropriately and confidently in everyday practice.

This course also serves as the foundation for further advanced online learning in CBCT, for participants who wish to progress to more focused applications and later practical training.

The Zoom meeting link will be provided in the first lesson of the course curriculum. Enrolled participants should log in to their Oromed 360 Academy account and open the course at least 30 minutes before the scheduled session to access the link.

A recording of the session will be made available to enrolled participants after the live course and will remain accessible for at least one month.

By the end of this course, participants should be able to:

Understand the basic principles of sectional imaging, with emphasis on CT and CBCT.
Describe the radiation considerations associated with CBCT and the importance of appropriate justification.

Course Completion and Certificate

Participants who complete the course requirements will receive a certificate documenting 1.5 hours of learning. The certificate may be added to a CV, professional portfolio or LinkedIn profile. This is a non-accredited course, and Oromed 360 Academy does not directly award or guarantee CPD/CDE points. Participants may submit the certificate and documented learning hours to their professional body for consideration, subject to its applicable rules.
